Smartflow Couplings manufacture a range of spill-free 1″ to 4″ hose and tank connectors to deliver pressurised fluids to 25 bar (362 psi) – known commonly as “dry break” couplings, their integral valves are automatically activated and interlocked to prevent spillage of (often hazardous) fluids.
Smartflow have adopted Olypsys as a important tool, primarily to quickly and accurately measure, identify and record o-rings at goods inward inspection, saving time and support meeting regulatory compliance. Stock products are fitted with widely utilised FKM o-rings, but it’s imperative to keep track when these are regularly exchanged with o-rings from a range of alternative materials for the more specific chemical resistance required by some users.
Service and repair of clients’ other dry break connectors critically require positive identification of the seals used – in this case the Olypsys wear compensation tool often becomes invaluable in identifying the correct replacement for worn o-rings.
Smartflow was founded in 2015 after the oil price crash of the previous year hit the manufacturing industry hard. The opportunity arose for a small team of Mechanical Engineers to set up this new business, designing a full range of dry break couplings to improve the efficiency of fluid transfer processes.
