Olypsys for Screws

Photograph a screw or bolt using the Olypsys app and get the measurements of the thread, the standard size and a full set of measured dimensions.

Early access Screw measurement is our newest capability and is in alpha.

From Photo to Part Number

Identifying a loose screw means the correct thread gauge and callipers, and that doesn't work at all for certain types of fasteners. Olypsys measures the screw from a single photograph, then matches it against 646 thread standards in 23 families, from ISO metric to Whitworth to pipe threads.

One phone photo of a rusty bolt on the grid…

…identified as M6x1 × 12, with a 3D model and a to-scale drawing built from the measured profile.

Threads Matched

An M6x1, a 0BA and a 7/32 BSW are very nearly the same screw; some standards differ by details no photograph can resolve. Rather than pretending otherwise, Olypsys shows every thread the measurement is consistent with, ranked and quoted in its own family's units, so you can pick the one that's right for the application.

Close candidates are ranked with match scores, each quoted in its own family’s units.

A Model You Can Check

The 3D model displayed in app and online is not faked: it is built from the measured profile, with the thread swept as a real helix at the measured pitch and hand.

On the web, the same solid is posed back onto the photographed grid in a full 3D reconstruction of the capture: photo, camera and part, exactly where they were. Olypsys intelligently accounts for the 3D nature of the part and the position of the lens relative to the image.

The 3D model is built from the measurement itself, threads swept at true pitch and hand.

What You Get

Thread Identification

Matched against 646 thread standards in 23 families: metric coarse and fine, UNC/UNF, BSW/BSF, BA, BSP, NPT, wood and self-tapping.

Real Dimensions

Major and root diameter, pitch or TPI, overall, thread and shank lengths, head diameter and height. Each is measured from the photo rather than copied from a table.

Hex Heads

Across flats is measured on the head itself, with the nearest standard spanner size beside it.

Tapered & Pipe Threads

Taper is measured, not assumed, so a BSPT or NPT fitting is identified as a pipe thread instead of the nearest parallel size.

Drawing and 3D Model

A to-scale elevation with dimensions and an interactive 3D solid, both built from the measured profile, in the app and in the browser.

Full Traceability

Photos, measurements and identifications are saved to the Vault with operator and timestamp, ready for audit.

Work With Us

Screw measurement is available today in the Olypsys app as an early-access alpha. If fasteners are part of your business, we should talk.

Distributors

Identify a customer's fastener at the counter and quote the replacement immediately. Branded PDF reports included.

Enterprise

Roll out to every site with your own part catalogue, your workflows, and central data management in the Vault.
